Contemplating his baby sister’s chemo
Our son is looking forward to having is 9th birthday in a few days, and what a difference a year makes. This was Raul Matthew at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis the day after his 3-month old sister, Myla, was admitted to begin chemotherapy for an aggressive form of cancer known as Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After months of chemo, Myla is in remission and her big brother can enjoy a normal birthday for a change.

Thanks to Alan Taylor of Boston Globe for including this photo in the Globe’s special story on childhood cancer. Alan included 18 other images that help tell the story of kids with cancer. I think you’ll be moved by the images and enlightened by the hundreds of posts that consumers have made to the story. Click here to see the story.
